The Honda Passport is built on the Pilot and reviving a legacy nameplate. The 2019 Passport is a five-passenger off-roader that ranges between the CR-V and Pilot in Honda’s SUV lineup. The Honda’s newest midsize SUV is basically a shortened, two-row Pilot. Being with the same platform that underpins the Ridgeline pickup, the Passport is definitely made to be more rugged than the made for its other SUVs.

Honda general manager Henio Arcangeli Jr, said “The all-new 2019 Honda Passport provides the on-road comfort and nimble handling buyers will appreciate on their daily commute with the robust off-road and all-weather capability that make for a great weekend adventure vehicle”.

The Passport

On tour and smart Honda Passport has an 8.0-inch touch-screen infotainment system provided with Apple Car-Play and Android Auto compatibility. Besides that it has a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot that can support up to 10 devices. The Passport comes standard with the Honda Sensing bundle of driver aids. The passport features independent emergency braking, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.

The Engine

The new Passport has a 3.5-liter V6 engine, which makes 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. However, the Passport gets Honda’s nine-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment. That transmission is an optional extra on the Pilot. The Passport gets standard front-wheel drive and optional all-wheel drive. Therefore, the bent-six engine lets the Passport to drag up to 5,000 pounds when equipped with the available tow package.

Well Honda automobiles claims its latest model have more strength and grip, which will perform better off-roads than others.  While, all-wheel drive models have an 8.4 inches of ground clearance, which is 1.1 inches higher than the Pilot. The Passport’s shorter overall length and reduced front and rear overhangs also improve approach, break-over, and departure angles.
